Mustang Session 1 – Thursday, July 1st

We are officially four days into our first session of Mustang! It has been a really exciting week. On Monday, we played get to know you games to get to know our village mates and counselors better. We also took our swim tests, and got to enjoy the flying squirrel! In the afternoons we head to our riding lessons. Monday was all about meeting the horses and learning about the ins and outs of the barn. We did a little bit of riding for evaluation day, then headed to dinner. After dinner, we got to go boating!

Tuesday was a super hot day. We spent our day off with some water games – like drip, drip, drop, and playing in the sprinkler. In the afternoon, it was too hot to ride our horses so we learned about how to properly take care of our horses in the heat. This included grooming, bathing, and how to apply sunscreen! We even learned about herd behavior and how horses create social systems within their herds.

On Wednesday, we went to program village where we got to paint, make a candle, do pottery, or even dance in the dance studio! In the afternoon, we picked up our sessions again- we can’t wait to tell you about our horses.

Thursday, we spent the morning doing tie-dye, then went on a hike to do shelter building. The afternoon was pretty rainy, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying our horses again. In our ground lessons, we learned all the parts of the saddle!

Friday is another big day, where we will spend the morning at the waterfront then back to the barn for more time with our horses.

We are having a great week – please check out our photos here! You can also send us an e-mail by clicking here.
