Mustang/Durango – End of the summer!
We started off Wednesday with a camper favorite – Counselor Sundaes! The campers split up into groups and the counselors had to answer questions about their campers they they might have learned throughout the session. If the counselor got it right, they were fine, but if they didn’t answer correctly, the campers got to smear ice cream, whipped cream, sprinkles and chocolate sauce all over their counselors. The kids loved getting messy and loved getting their counselors messy even more!
In the evening the boys on their long waited for hike to high falls. They headed out with a few counselors after dinner. They hiked past their cabin, around the lake, and up the mountain to high falls. High falls is a beautiful waterfall at Frost Valley and it is definitely a great hike for everyone. There are tons of great spots along to way to play games, see wildlife and enjoy nature! They boys loved their hike and didn’t want to come back!
The girls, however, went to East Valley Ranch. They went to go see the girls horse camp for ages 10 and up. They were really excited to play games and see what it would be like to go to when they grew up! The girls did some activities and then watch the 4 week advanced program campers do a demonstration on the horses. Mustang girls were so excited and now can’t wait until they are able to go to EVR! They hope to get invited to the four week program one day so that they can do a demo too!
This morning we started to pack up and bring all of our bags outside. They all gathered up their things so they could start cleaning up! Its been a great last day and although they may not want to leave, they are almost ready to go! In our last riding lesson the kids rode really well. They have all trotted a some point this session and have improved so much. They have become true cowboys and cowgirls! Closing campfire was a hit tonight and the counselors all showed off their skills. They had one last skit or song for the summer and had a great time! It’s been an amazing summer, and this session was a great way to end it!
