One Of Those Perfect Weather Kind Of Days.

After a few days of pretty intense days, the heat finally broke and we had a wonderful perfect summer day, we still emphasized drinking water and sunscreen though!

This morning saw some of our Hemlock campers take part in archery and the others letting their creative juices flow with candles in our special candlemaking studio (brand new last summer). While that was going on, our Sacky and Tacoma campers were having a tea party with campers from Pokey Totem (our youngest village) and Mini-MAC. This was a great opportunity to bond with younger campers and be positive role models.

In the afternoon, Pac took part in Flag Racing, a new activity this summer that takes part on our main field. The campers are divided into teams and the teams race around a course relay-style with a few campers at a time in a hula hoop. The catch is that campers can slow down other teams by picking up dodgeballs along the way and hitting the other teams. When someone is hit by a dodgeball everyone in the hula hoop has to stop, spin, and sing a song. It is a wild, fast-paced, and hilarious game to watch.

Tonight was one of the highlights of the session for everyone, the all-Hird Ultimate Sicko Ball (also known as USB) game. USB is a 4 way game of capture the flag using different soccer, football, and dodgeballs instead of flags. As with everything at Frost Valley, it was a friendly competition with lots of spirit involved!

Born in New York but raised in Ireland, Morgan has spent every summer he can remember flying back to the US to attend summer camps. Over the years that Morgan worked at a well-regarded private camp in Maine, he took on many roles including Cabin Counselor, Head of Rocks and Ropes, Program Director, and Operations Director. Morgan began working at Frost Valley as a program instructor in 2014, leading activities for our schools and weekend programs, before becoming our Director of Camp Henry Hird. Campers at Camp Henry Hird range in age from 13 to 16. Morgan loves working with this age group as he finds that this is the time of their life where they form into unique individuals and discover the values that they will hold with them for the rest of their lives.
