Today our campers started into their overnight journey through the woods. For the first 3 days of their camp experience, they all learned a variety of survival skills that they can use for this overnight. They will need to demonstrate their talents in fire building, water purification, shelter building, hiking, navigation, map reading, and working together as a team. They will make their way through the Catskill wild forest to High Falls. There they will have the opportunity to rappel down the waterfall to their “rescue point”. Most of time, this is highlight and the biggest challenge of their camp experience. They finish with a heightened sense of confidence, self esteem, and ability to work together as a team. We have a nice cookout to celebrate their success on Thursday night. They really are such a nice group of young people, and we look forward to seeing them back next year.
