Hello and welcome to the Camp Henry Hird blog – the blog about the older half of overnight camp! We will be updating this blog every day, typically in the evening, so we highly recommend checking it first thing in the morning. It is the first day of camp which means that everyone is settling in, getting to know their cabin mates, drinking water to stay hydrated, and doing activities in the shade to stay cool.
I just quickly wanted to share with you a photo from last night’s Hird Opening Campfire. We had a great campfire with a whole range of acts from skits to songs. We start and end each campfire with the Frost Valley tradition of the ashes. We pour ashes from all our past campfires into the fire to start, and collect ashes from this fire at the end so that every campfire is remembered and represented in the future. Below is a photo of the Sacky Village staff doing a skit!
