This weekend had a really relaxed feel to it with villages taking it easy on Saturday after a busy week, and Sunday’s theme (Hirdstock) being a more laidback one.
Saturday had some awesome moments. All of the Hird villages started by celebrating ‘Stewardship Saturday’ by helping to clean up program spaces and living spaces around camp, making it a place we can be proud to live and play in (Stewardship is also one of our core values!).
Tacoma got into the festive mood on Saturday afternoon, hosting a wedding for 2 of their counselors. There was a bouncy house to celebrate as well as a beautiful cake (thanks to the camp baker Debbie for putting so much effort into it!).
Saturday’s always finish with everyone at the Dance.
Some other Saturday goings on: Sacky used the slip and slide, Hemlock had a counselor theme day (They had a mock staff training), and Pac did facials with MAC Boys.
Sunday’s have two exciting things about them: Brunch and Theme Day. We take brunch pretty literally at Frost Valley, it’s an actual mix of breakfast and lunch with a salad bar on one side of the Dining Hall, and a breakfast bar on the other. Everyone also get’s ice cream sundaes!
After a double rest period (much needed by this point in the session), everybody went down to Hirdstock Field by the lake where a stage had been set up, as well booths of all kinds to keep campers entertained. We had some great performances and some awesome hippy-themed activities. The evening program was a continuation of the performances, with one coming from a band of campers who all know each other from home!
