Core Values In Action: Celebrating the Year!

Happy Core Values in Action Wednesday, and happy last Wednesday of the Core Values in Action Year!

Over the past 8 months we have celebrated, explored, practiced, and embraced all 8 of Frost Valley’s Core Values. It has been inspiring and fun to see how the Frost Valley Community has given life to the Core Values throughout the year. In honor of the past 8 months, I would love to highlight some of our favorite stories from the year!

Caring: One of the first and favorite #CVIA stories we received was from our Outpost Campers, who were doing a project for one of their classmates who was sick. Check out the story here: https://frostvalley.org/outpost-campers-put-caring-into-action/

Respect: We had many camper quotes from what Respect means to them, including the following from a Lakota Camper: “Personally, I love all the Core Values, but I feel that respect can be the foundation for the rest of the values.” Check out more camper quotes in this story: https://frostvalley.org/respect-in-march-core-values-in-action/

Thank you to everyone who has participated in this project. Putting the core values into action is how the FV community can make a big difference in the world. I am so inspired by everyone who has share their stories with us throughout the year! ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Nick Lomauro

Nick Lomauro is a lifetime lover of camp (overnight and day), outdoor recreation, and value-based programs. Nick grew up in the YMCA and discovered his passion for working in youth development as a summer camp counselor. Full of curiosity, Nick graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in General Humanities. Immediately following graduation Nick set off to Spain to hike the 500 mile ancient pilgrimage trail, El Camino de Santiago. Nick then returned to his childhood YMCA in NJ, of over 20 thousand members, as the Director of Youth Development. In this role he designed, developed, and implemented day camp and teen programs. In 2015, Nick returned to Frost Valley and he is now the Director of Camp Wawayanda. This is Nick's 16th summer at Frost Valley.
