Chores are an important part of the farm camp tradition. Not only are they essential to the upkeep of the farm, they’re also fun! Every morning, the yurts rotate between chores in the barn, garden and all over camp. Campers learn how to feed the animals, collect the eggs and properly weed in the garden. Some campers even have the opportunity to run flag raising.

Every morning before breakfast we have flag raising, the yurt that runs flag raising get’s the pick the core value of the day and today that was honesty. Throughout the day, campers are asked to exemplify and act upon this core value in their activities and interactions. At the end of the day, before dinner, we have flag lowering. At this point, campers have the chance to give a ‘shout-out’ to another camper who exemplified this core value. This is a fun way to learn about the core values, and to also build and strengthen our farm camp community.

Chores and the core value of the day are just some of the many traditions we have at the farm, which we are so happy to share with you and our campers.
