Session 1 is under way!

Welcome to the first blog post of the summer for Camp Henry Hird. Every night the directors of the Hird (Morgan and Alana) will be posting pictures and telling stories of what happened during the day at camp.

It’s the end of our first check-in day for the summer and what a great day it was! The sun was out and we couldn’t have asked for a better start to our summer. Alana and I (the Camp Henry Hird directors) were lucky enough to meet most of our families as they were arriving into the Dining Hall and got to meet everyone else at dinner time.

After dinner all of the campers and staff met on Big Tree Field (one of our most scenic spots on camp) to play a quick ‘get to know you’ game before splitting into smaller groups for Opening Campfire. The campfires ended with smores for all! Everyone is back in their cabins and lodges resting for the night and getting ready for our first full day of camp tomorrow.

Morgan Theze

Born in New York but raised in Ireland, Morgan has spent every summer he can remember flying back to the US to attend summer camps. Over the years that Morgan worked at a well-regarded private camp in Maine, he took on many roles including Cabin Counselor, Head of Rocks and Ropes, Program Director, and Operations Director. Morgan began working at Frost Valley as a program instructor in 2014, leading activities for our schools and weekend programs, before becoming our Director of Camp Henry Hird. Campers at Camp Henry Hird range in age from 13 to 16. Morgan loves working with this age group as he finds that this is the time of their life where they form into unique individuals and discover the values that they will hold with them for the rest of their lives.
