Session 1 – Off to a Great Start!
Although thunder storms earlier today made for a wet check-in, the weather cleared up to beautiful mist hugging the mountains and sun shining through the clouds. After playing some get-to-know you games and eating pizza for dinner (an all time favorite!), everyone headed out to participate in an opening campfire ceremony. Adventure Village performed songs and skits in the Orchard around a fire (despite the wet wood!) and Adventure Trip participants gathered around a decorative fire made of cardboard to talk about what they were most excited about and most nervous about for their trips.
Trips will be heading on out tomorrow morning, and Adventure Village will be off to some high adventures. Stay tuned for more details!
Please note – the storms this afternoon have knocked out most of our internet capabilities (hence no pictures tonight on smugmug!) and phone lines. We can still make calls out to anyone, but you can only call Frost Valley and to leave a message. If you have an emergency or need to check-up on your camper, please leave a message at 845-985-2291 x265. We’ll be checking messages frequently until our phones are up and working properly. Thanks for your patience as the electricians work their magic! Tomorrow hopefully we’ll be back up and running full speed with pictures and more details all around!

Zach eigenbrodt
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
