Session 2 is Finally Here!

Welcome to the blog!

Session 2 is here, woohoo! Once all the girls had checked in, they went on a tour to see our wonderful camp and all it has to offer. We sat down for dinner and learned all about nutrition and a balanced diet! We are excited to try new foods and eat from the fruit and salad bar at every meal time.

For our evening program, we could only kick camp off in the best way possible, a campfire! We sang repeat after me songs, each yurt came up with a skit, and we had some people volunteer to show off their talents; we had weird noises, gymnastics, guitar playing, and lots of singing! We ended the night roasting s’mores over the campfire.

Today is our Evaluation Day. This is when the girls have a riding lesson and our barn manager works out which of our amazing horses will suit each camper best! We also learned how to lead and tie horses, groom and tack, and learn the rules of the barn. This afternoon we took a hayride down to Farm Camp to swim in our watering hole.

Tonight we are going on a night hike through one of our many trails at EVR. The girls will learn about how their eyes adjust to the change in light like bats do, how their sense of smell intensifies when their nose is wet like a dears, how their hearing changes when they have large ears like horses (using their hands) and will be told ancient stories about the East Valley and the Neversink area.

Tomorrow the girls will find out their horses! Look out on SmugMug tomorrow for pictures of them on their new noble steeds!
