Gap Year San Gil Colombia

I’m so excited to officially announce a new program that is sure to positively influence your life, as well as the world. This incredible endeavor will allow you to bring your talent, passion, and enthusiasm to South America, while also gaining invaluable experience as you’re immersed in vibrant, welcoming communities.

Frost Valley YMCA is partnering with YMCA Colombia to offer a Gap Semester Program in Colombia for Fall 2018.

As you may know, Frost Valley has over 100 years of experience as a leader in youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Our long history of providing life-changing outdoor experiences has brought thousands of people together – and now we are taking our efforts to Colombia! This uniquely immersive experience provides participants with the opportunity to contribute three areas of support in South America:

  • Youth Education – working with Colombian school children
  • Community Development – providing hands-on support to help communities thrive
  • Sustainable Agriculture – be a steward of the earth to foster a greener tomorrow

If you’re between the ages of 18 and 22, I invite you to apply for this opportunity to take a year “on” and make a difference in the world. For individuals looking for an inimitable and beneficial experience prior to beginning college, during college, or before entering the workforce, this program is sure to be a journey unlike any other.

Taking place from September 5 – December 12, 2018, you’ll have the option to either take a full gap year and participate in other programs and service opportunities afterward, or you can enroll in school or enter the workforce when the program commences in December.

If you have already been accepted to college for the Fall 2018 semester, you can contact the school’s admissions office and request a deferral for a semester, as most educational institutions are eager to accept students who have experienced more of the world.

Throughout the three months in Colombia, participants will be fully immersed in cultures and communities, while they contribute time and talent toward supporting the goals and needs of our partners, YMCA Colombia and the local communities. Financial aid is available for those who qualify on a first come, first served basis.

I hope to see many of our past campers and staff, as well as new faces apply for this program – as with all of our programs, the gap semester is for all. I’m certain that it will be a life-changing, and world-changing, experience!
