Teen Adventure Trips Update

Habitat for Humanity

After a week of working, the crew on the Habitat for Humanity trip got in a day of climbing over the weekend to break up their hard work with a bit of adventure fun!  Leaving the re-store for a day, they were also able to tour and work on a house build project, laying floor and moving materials to help the workers of Habitat for Humanity build a house to help those in need!

ADK Hike and Climb

After a week of thrilling climbing in the Adirondack Wilderness, the group has strapped on their backs and headed out on trail for the hiking portion of the trip.  Touring around the renowned High Peaks Wilderness, the campers on the ADK Hike and Climb trip are going to have the views of a lifetime as they summit some of the tallest peaks on the east coast.

Maine Coast

After climbing on the seawalls of Maine, the group has set out to hit the waters on their state-of-the-art sea kayaks.  Accompanied by seasoned guides, the group on the Maine Coast trip now has a chance to experience the  contours of the coast of Maine like few others.  Spending the night on beautiful islands, the campers will get a chance to sleep under the stars, and to wake up to a sunrise that they will not soon forget!

West Virginia White Water

From the hills of West Virginia, the campers from this trip are now heading out on their White Water Rafting overnight!  Having learned the finer points of navigating rapids, the kids and their guides are heading out further down the river, bringing all they need with them so they can experience rafting in one of its truest forms.  The kids will soon return to camp with pictures to share and stories to tell!

White Mountains Hike and Climb

After several days of exploring the pristine White Mountain Range wilderness, this group is ready to move on to the next exciting part of their trip.  Gearing up, this group is ready to spend a few days learning how to work together to conquer the mountains they see with only rope, shoes and helmets.  The climbing has begun, and the kids couldn’t be more excited to get out there and take on the challenge that will fill them with stories to take back to their friends and families back home.

Pictures of all the trips will be posted when they return on Wednesday.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Zach eigenbrodt

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
