The Adventure Begins!
Adventure Camp has begun! Last night Adventure Village, Adventure Trips, and the AiTs (Adventure Counselors in Training) came together to partake in the Adventure Opening Campfire. The campfire was rich with ancient Adventure traditions, such as drinking Hemlock Tea, eating “Raccoon Poop” (melted chocolate), and coming together for a group cheer.
Today was a full first day! Adventure Village had time to bond with their tent groups, learn cheers, play games, and find out all about their Mini Trips which will be leaving at the end of this week.
The AiTs and the White Mountains trip spent the day prepping for their departure early tomorrow morning. They played team building games, set their goals and expectations for trail, and packed out all of their food and gear – gearing up for their big day tomorrow.
The Adirondack Mountain Summit Multi-Pitch trip spent the day hiking from Giant Ledge up and over Cornell and Wittenberg mountains and are currently safe and sound asleep at the base of Slide Mountain, planning to summit the mountain tomorrow and then return to camp to continue preparing for their trip.
We are off to a great start – the energy is up and Adventure Is Out There!

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Zach couldn't keep himself out of the woods when growing up. He started working at a Northern Wisconsin YMCA Camp as a wilderness trip leader while in college and fell in love with getting kids into nature. The smiles on kids faces after returning from a once in a life time wilderness experience is why he is here today. Zach brought his talents to Frost Valley YMCA, in 2014, when he started as the Trips Coordinator and soon was promoted to Adventure Director. Zach loves all forms of Wilderness exploration, though some would say his heart lies most with canoeing.
