Horsemanship Weekend for Scouts
A Weekend for Scouts at a Catskill Mountain Ranch! Get to know our horses! Learn about veterinary care, herd behavior, grooming, and nutrition. Enjoy a lesson and trail ride, as well as numerous non-equestrian activities. East Valley Ranch, just 14 miles from Main Camp, offers both a bed-and-breakfast style lodge that sleeps up to 35 guests, as well as Mongolian yurts that sleep an additional 60 guests. Weekend per-person rates start at $239 for yurts and $299 for rooms in the lodge. All programs and meals are included and served in our lodge’s charming dining room. A Weekend for Scouts in the Catskills Challenge yourself with thrilling ropes elements, outdoor sports, and more. ACTIVITIES OFFERED: Catskill Critters Presentation, Outdoor Living Skills, Wildlife Ecology, Night Hike, CSI: Frost Valley, Teambuilding, Rowing/Canoeing, Archery, Hikes, Low Ropes, Flying Fish, Zipline Our Main Camp offers availability for up to 650 guests, easily accommodating large councils yet also providing a personalized experience for individual troops. $189 per person includes programs, lodging, and meals. Fly-Fishing Week at East Valley Ranch
Join us for a spectacular Fly-Fishing Retreat this Spring! The Catskills are the birthplace of American Fly-Fishing. East Valley Ranch is minutes away from the famed Beaverkill, Upper Delaware, Neversink, and Willowemoc rivers. Fly fishermen/fisherwomen have come from far and wide to cast lines in these pristine waters for decades. Programs will be led by an experienced, knowledgeable, licensed NY fishing guide.

CHA Clinic

Horsemanship Training in the Catskills Become a CHA-certified riding instructor in English and/or Western disciplines. Four levels of certification can be achieved in the clinic, with the potential of being recommended as an Assistant Clinic Instructor. The certification process comprises an evaluation by two certified CHA clinicians over the course of the five-day clinic. The clinic will involve teaching at least four practice lessons, a riding evaluation, a written test, and participation in workshops on risk management, teaching techniques, professionalism, and herd management.
