Sacky and Hemlock enjoyed their overnights last night. They had the best time cooking pita pizzas and roasting marshmallows. Tacoma and Lenape played French Rev which is a mix of hide and go seek and tag. Pac Windsong had a great time barbecuing for dinner. They made hot dogs, hamburgers, and cheeseburgers. For waterfront a lot of campers picked to go boating because of the beautiful weather. Below is a picture of Pac campers canoeing. They loved working together to sail across the lake.

Today was Hirdstock, a special all-camp event where campers and counselors are able to share their talents with the whole Frost Valley community! The many talents shared today included skits, dances, songs, and a very special poem read by our leadership team that captured many of the usually indescribable things we all feel about camp. Here is a verse from that poem: “We are the whistle of the wind/On carefree summer days/That reminds you to be happy/For the warmth of golden rays” Below are photos from Hirdstock of campers performing throughout the day:

We had perfect sunny weather at camp today! Campers in Lenape, Mac Girls, Mac Boy had a blast playing Marquezcart. Marquezcart is a game that was created by one of our staff members, Marquez it is very similar to Mario Cart. Below is a picture of campers racing to the finishing line to be the winner of the game. Tonight all of the Hird celebrated the start of session 4 by attending the last opening campfire of summer 2018. Every village’s staff participated by creating a skit and showing it off to all of the campers. The photo above is a picture of all the campers listening to Al and former staff from previous summers who returned to work session 4. The staff have been diligently creating fun schedules for campers for this upcoming week! Campers will be taking swim tests and taking cabin photos tomorrow! Everyone is so excited for a great session 4!

Today was the first full day of session 3! We had beautiful weather here today and every camper spent time outside playing games, taking their swim test, and learning cheers. Campers played all different types of games to get to know the other kids in their cabin. Each village took the swim test and enjoyed cooling down from the warm weather in the lake. In the picture above campers are learning cheers to use during hoopla. Hoopla is a time at the end of each lunch that campers show off their village spirit. The annual Frost Valley Olympix has begun! Campers have been split up amongst 8 different countries. During part of the day today the cultural advisor of each team shared their knowledge about their country. This is a great way for campers to learn more about other cultural. Campers have also  been spending their day learning cheers, creating banners, and putting together a skit for opening ceremony.  The picture above is of campers eagerly waiting for opening ceremony to start. Each team will be competing all day Monday in different activities to win different awards including, best t-shirt design, most spirited, best banner, and more.

Pac, Windsong, and Lenape are all enjoying their second night of their three-day, two-night overnight. The weather has been perfect for hiking and sleeping under the stars. Above is a picture of Pac village at Merrill Pavilion enjoy the panoramic view of the Catskills. They made it up to the pavilion in record time fem Farm Camp. All overnights will enjoy a warm pita pizza and some s’mores tonight. We are excited to have everyone back on main camp and hear about their adventure!

Session two has started and the weather has been beautiful! Campers are excited for swim checks tomorrow and all the fun activities planned for this session. In the picture Al is leading all of the Hird in a silly song and dance to set the tone for session Two. Al is a trustee who spends a lot of time here during the summer. He volunteers his time in many different ways at camp such as leading Gernimo and Challenge Night. More photos from his activities will be posted during the session. The sun is shining at Frost Valley and the heat is on! So what does that mean for us? HYDRATION! We are ensuring round-the-clock that all our campers and staff are continuously drinking water.
