Overnights are one of the most memorable moments of the camp experience. During staff training our counselors learn all about the technical skills that make overnight camping trips fun and successful. We teach and perfect the art of fire building, shelter building, and learn all about the 7 Leave No Trace Principles: Plan ahead and prepare Travel and camp on durable surfaces Dispose of waste properly Leave what you find Minimize campfire impacts Respect wildlife Be considerate of other visitors As a Leave No Trace Master Educator, I feel very confident that our staff are set up for success. Summer 2018 is off to a great start for Wawayanda! Wawayanda is all about having fun, meeting new people, trying new things, and building community. There are so many ways we build community- like opening campfire, hoopla, and the Wawayanda Dance off to name a few! The dance-off takes place at dinner everyday and is completely optional. Wow! What a day at Frost Valley YMCA! We have been so lucky for so many reasons! Not only did the rain go away, but the sun came out and we had such beautiful weather all day. We are super excited about the caring, respectful, silly group of campers that we have here for the session. We can already tell it is going to be full of fun, energy, new friends, and lots of laughs! Take a look at some of the expectations we set last night in our cabins!
