Last Updated: July 3, 2022

As we continue to plan for summer 2022, we are consistently looking at our Covid-19 protocols and guidelines from last summer and making adjustments where necessary. We are monitoring what the CDC, American Camp Association, and Department of Health at the local and state levels are recommending as we make decisions to ensure the health and safety of our campers and staff.

It is imperative you have designated an authorized pickup person who is immediately available to pick up your camper within 12 hours should they test positive. Please contact the camp registrar’s office if you need to update your emergency contacts or authorized pickup people prior to check in day by calling 845-985-2291 ext. 203 or emailing campregistration@frostvalley.org.

What is the vaccination policy for Summer Camp 2022?

The updated vaccination policy states that all campers will need to be fully vaccinated and boosted. This means that if your child is 12 and over AND eligible for their booster it is mandatory to have the booster to attend camp. If your child is 11 or younger AND eligible for their booster it is STRONGLY recommended to have their booster prior to arrival at camp.

If your camper is eligible for the booster and does not receive the booster prior to camp AND they are exposed you will need to bring them home within 12 hours and will not receive a refund. If they are due for their booster during camp, you should plan to delay their start until it has been received or pick them during camp up to get it. Please bring their vaccination card with you on check in day.

The only exception being those who are medically exempt from receiving the vaccination. Being up to date means that campers and staff will need to have received their full dosage of their vaccination plus their booster if eligible. Vaccinations must be uploaded to the camper’s health form before arriving AND must show proof of vaccination upon arrival. Campers who are medically exempt must provide a letter from their physician. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Wellness Center at wellness@frostvalley.org.

Staff and Campers 12 and over are required to receive their full dosage of their vaccination plus their booster if eligible for it.

Will a Covid test be required for camp?

Please have your camper tested for COVID-19 using a PCR test within 72 hours or an antigen test within 6 hours prior to check in. If they have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days, please have your camper take an antigen test 6 hours prior to your arrival at camp. Please bring proof of your negative test results with you to check in.

If your camper tests positive for COVID-19 on check in day, please do not bring them to camp. If they test positive prior to boarding the bus, they will not be permitted to board the bus for camp.

All campers and staff will receive a rapid test on the first Tuesday of camp. You will need to register your camper at one of the following links. If your camper is attending multiple sessions you only need to register them once.

We will be partnering with City Testing Services who will be performing the tests in both valleys. A link will be sent to you which will ask you to fill out your camper’s information and enter your insurance information. City Testing Services will submit a claim for reimbursement to your Insurance Company. There is no co-pay, adverse impact to your deductible, or any balance billing. There is absolutely no out-of-pocket cost to you. You may receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance company which documents that a claim has been submitted. Please note, this is not an invoice but a statement showing the claims submitted. Reimbursement for COVID-19 testing is covered 100% by all insurance payers with no deductible, co-pays, coinsurance, or any other out-of-pocket expense. In the event your insurance provider does not cover COVID-19 testing, you will not be responsible for any payment.

Campers attending multiple sessions will not be required to test again entering their 2nd session.

When registering with City Testing Services do I need to enter my license number or my camper’s (if they have one)?

Please enter your license number when prompted.

My camper is arriving by bus, what is the Covid test procedure?

If arriving by bus, we are asking campers to perform a rapid test the morning before leaving for camp. Tests can be any rapid test and we just need proof that it was negative that morning. Since the bus brings campers from all programs, this is another layer of health and safety to help ensure we are starting camp on the right foot. All campers and staff will be required to wear a mask on the bus.

My camper is arriving by car, what is the Covid test procedure?

We will ask families to stagger their arrival. Each program and village will have an assigned arrival time. You can find your arrival time here in our Family Handbook. We will ask all families to wear a mask during the entire check-in process. Families will be able to escort their camper to their villages but we ask that only one family enter the cabin at a time. Families who have multiple campers with different arrival times, please arrive during the latter of the two times.

Will masks be required at camp?

Please ensure that your camper has packed well-fitting cloth or disposable face masks. Please make sure your camper has a box of disposable masks enough for at least one a day plus extras or enough cloth masks for one every other day. All bus riders will be required to wear a mask on the bus. Upon arrival we will ask all campers to wear a mask during check in day and subsequently during camp whenever entering an indoor common space (ex. Dining Hall) for the first 48 hours (whenever the results of the in-camp tests return). Other times that campers would need to wear a mask is if there was a positive Covid-19 case in their cabin and they would be interacting with other villages.

What happens if there is a positive Covid-19 case at camp?

If your camper tests positive while at camp, you will be notified immediately and will need to arrange to pick them up within 12 hours. This is also true for campers who arrived by bus. They will be brought to an isolation room in the Wellness Center to await pickup.

Campers in Adventure Trips will receive additional information about what will happen if a camper tests positive for Covid-19.

If a staff member tests positive for Covid-19, that staff member will be moved to the staff isolation area. Depending on where a staff member is from they will either go home or stay at camp in an isolation room and be monitored and cared for by our Wellness Center staff.

If your camper is EXPOSED to someone who tests positive for COVID-19, you will be informed immediately, but your camper can stay on camp UNLESS they develop symptoms and/or subsequently test positive as long as they are boosted if eligible or have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 90 days.
