We kicked off our weekend with bareback day! This is when the girls ride horses without any saddles on. They find it very cool to be able to feel all the horses movements underneath them, and practice their balance and posture. On Saturday afternoon, they had Wacky Water Saturday- where they play water games and slip and slides. The evening ended with a 70’s themed dance party! The girls made backdrops and decorations throughout the day and celebrated in 70’s style. Sunday was theme day! Are we really already in the second week of session 1?! The girls at EVR have had a super busy week! Something new that we have started in our EVR program is Specialties. This is something our counselors have been working on during their staff training. They have to come up with a theme for the week and do activities to go with that theme, and the girls get to pick what they want to do. For example, this week, the younger girls chose the princess diaries. They created crowns in arts and crafts and played a huge game of capture the crown. The older girls chose a monster theme, […]

Answer- The rope wasn’t tied to anything.   The girls have their horses!! Yesterday at breakfast, the girls found out what horse they would be riding for the rest of their time here. They all were taught the basics of how we ride our Frost Valley Horses. The horses listen to us by using voice commands, such as kisses and clicks, rather than kicking them to ask them to go. We try to get the girls to spend half of the day at the barn. After their riding lessons, the girls to a ground lesson. This is when they are taught a lesson in the barn whether it be about […]

All of EVR had successful overnights! The 4 weekers were surprised when they saw the lean-tos that they could sleep in, yurts 3 and 4 created tarp city (shelters made out of tarps) and yurts 1 and 2 slept under a tarp at the barn! All came back feeling like experts when it came to living in the wild. Today the girls have deserved a more chill day. They have rode in their lessons, gone boating and learned about horse movement. They have also made up dance routines in their yurt groups for a surprise flash mob. For evening programme tonight, the girls have a challenge night! They will be split […]
