Howdy Everyone! Hope you are all having a lovely day. It is raining here at Frost Valley but that doesn’t stop our fun! The kids have just got back from a wetter than usual waterfront and again had a great time, swimming, building sand castles and having water fights. For their activity yesterday Mustango played sock rugby, which is a take on flag rugby but with socks and not as much contact. Our other Durango counselor Hamish plays Rugby at home in the UK so he loved teaching them all and seeing them really get the hang of it!  Last night Mustang did Disco Yoga which they thought was the …

MUSTANGO WEEK 2 BEGINS!

Howdy Everyone! Apologies for the delay in an update but as I am sure you can imagine, we have been pretty busy here at camp! The kids are all having the best time and are really bonding with their horses!  Waterfront has been a highlight every day so far, the weather has been great and despite the lake water getting shallower, the kids have not stopped having a great time. They particularly love the new floaties that the lifeguards have provided. There is a giant unicorn, lobster and chicken that have been the focus of many floaty/splashing wars! Below you will see photos taken during this past weekend—a weekend of inductions into our Hall of Fame, the awarding of our Volunteer of the Year Award, reunions of various former campers and staff, a luncheon in which participants in our summer camp program had a chance to speak about their experiences, and of course the annual summertime meeting of the Board. Mustango meet the Horses!

Howdy Everyone, Hope you are having a lovely start to your week! We have had a busy few days here at Frost Valley!  The kids all had fun settling into their bunks and meeting their cabin mates on Sunday. Sunday night was the LAST OPENING CAMPFIRE of the summer! Counselors from each village perform a skit or a song so that everyone gets to see who they are. The Mustango (Mustang and Durango) staff did a very funny skit which all the kids loved. On Monday the campers all had their waterfront orientation and swim checks to assess which sections they can swim/boat in. They then played name games and …

Mustango sleep under the stars!!

Howdy Everyone!  Are you all having a good week? Mustango have been non-stop since the last blog so there is lots to update you on! Over the weekend the kids got to try out Bareback riding, which is with no saddle!! This is great for their balance and also for them to feel how the horse moves when they are riding. It sometimes feels a bit wobbly and unsteady at first but all of them got the hang of it really quickly and really enjoyed it! It is nice for our horses to not have to carry saddles round for the day too!  They also played a lot of water …

Adventure Village Emerges from the Woods

Adventure Village has been out on their Mini-Trips since Saturday, and the happy campers are starting to emerge from the woods, tales of adventure and a close group of friends in tow. Our local Catskill trips are all bound to be back at Frost Valley today, and our Adirondack trips for the older campers will arrive tomorrow afternoon. We had a full village this session, and we sent out a total of seven trips! We’re excited to hear their stories of adventure and challenge upon their arrival!
