ANNOUNCEMENT! Spring Break Horse Day Camp
NEW! Horse Program for Children on Spring Break
Frost Valley’s annual Spring Break Day Camp is a local favorite for families looking to provide children ages 4-15 with growth-filled programming during their school spring break. For years now, the program has allowed children to have fun in the great outdoors, while making new friends, learning lifelong skills, and building strong character values.
This year, this family-favorite day camp program will run from March 26 to 30 and will include all the activities children love: hiking, tours of the Maple Sugar House, sports and games, candle making, “Incredible Edibles” (a healthy cooking class in the camp’s teaching kitchen), climbing, and more. Weather permitting, campers also take a field trip to a local indoor pool for swimming.
In addition to this perennial favorite, Frost Valley is now offering a brand new program: a Spring Break Horse Day Camp at East Valley Ranch, on Denning Road just 14 miles from Frost Valley’s main camp. This engaging program is designed to give children a chance to learn new skills, re-unite with campers from the summer, and make new friends.
Campers will spend half the day learning about grooming, horse care, and the sense of responsibility and confidence that horses foster in children. The remainder of the day will be filled with Frost Valley’s signature camp activities such as arts & crafts, games, climbing, and high ropes challenges, such as the Flying Squirrel.
The program is open to children in pre-K to second grade (minimum of four years old) and is appropriate both for campers who have never been around horses as well as campers with plenty of experience. Horseback riding is planned for each day of the program, but will be weather dependent.
Both of these options for local families are guided by Frost Valley’s mission and eight core values: caring, community, diversity, honesty, inclusiveness, responsibility, respect, and stewardship. Transportation is available to and from Liberty, Grahamsville, Neversink, and Big Indian and is included in the registration fee – families are encouraged to register their children soon to avoid the waiting list.
