Frost Valley YMCA Introduces New Adventure Director Tori Staley

Frost Valley YMCA is excited to introduce Tori Staley as our new Adventure Director. Tori grew up in State College, PA. An avid hiker, rock climber, camper, and lover of the outdoors, she worked for four summers over five years at Frost Valley. Tori has been an Adventure Village Counselor, AiT Coordinator, Trips Logistics Coordinator, and then served as a Mental Health Support for Camp last summer. She is thrilled to be moving to Frost Valley full time to serve as the new Adventure Director.

A lifelong nature enthusiast, Tori grew up in a family that valued spending time outdoors. Her family went backpacking in Yellowstone National Park. She been on an Outward Bound Trip in North Carolina, climbing trips in Oregon and Spain, backpacking in Wyoming and numerous trips with Frost Valley. Her favorite Frost Valley trip was when she led Adventurers in Training (AiTs) in the High Peaks of the Adirondacks.

A graduate of  the University of Vermont, Tori taught Outdoor Education and Spanish in Colorado before earning her Masters in Gender Studies in London. Tori has experience in child development from her teaching background, as well as mission-driven mindset that compliments her knowledge and expertise in outdoor adventures.

“I think Frost Valley is poised to do great things in outdoor adventures,” says Tori. “I’m excited to help serve communities that may not have as many opportunities to spend time in nature. I hope to grow the Young Women’s Leadership Trips, as well as grow our outreach and diversity,” says Tori.”I also look forward to continuing the progression of our trips program that Zach Eigenbrodt began when he was the Adventure Director.”

“I am very excited for Tori to be joining our team and taking over the Adventure Program,” says Zach Eigenbrodt, Frost Valley’s Director of Camping Services. “Her experience, knowledge, and drive is exactly what we need to continue to move the Adventure Program and organization forward.”

Here’s a peek at some of Tori’s outdoor adventures over the years.

Here’s a great shot of Tori with a fellow teacher in Colorado. It was the students’ first day on the ski slope, so they wanted to make it fun for them (hence the dress up).
