Good Evening from East Valley Ranch! We’ve had an exciting couple days here in the valley. Yesterday was our ropes day! Campers participated in our flying Pegasus and the Leap of Faith! They also got to see a close up round pen ground lesson being taught, teaching the kids about horses and the horse’s respect for their riders. Unfortunately an afternoon storm meant a portion of the afternoon was spent indoors, but campers still got that bonding time with their yurt mates and counselors. Howdy from East Valley Ranch! Yesterday we celebrated our first theme day of the summer which threw it back to 1836 for Wild West Sunday! After brunch campers participated in activities like gold mining, lassoing, and bank making in order to earn back the  “Buffalo Bills” that the Bells Brothers Gang stole. After campers played a game of Rootin Tootin Flour Smack (eerily similar to boppers) the Bells Brothers were caught by the sheriff and enough money was raised by the “townsfolk” to put on a barbeque and line dancing hoedown where campers performed original line dances they created with their yurts. Good evening from East Valley Ranch! Yesterday was another wet day in the Catskills, but you wouldn’t know by our campers’ positive attitudes! Yesterday campers enjoyed activities such as low ropes course, nature hikes, outdoor living skills, and you guessed it – horseback riding. Campers are really building that bond with their assigned horses of the session after day four of riding them. Evening program was indoors due to wet weather, so we had a Trashion Show where campers used clean pieces of garbage (newspaper, rinsed bottles, etc.) to make outfits they wore down the runway.
