Mustang Bareback Riding and Now to Compete in Olympix
Yesterday was a more relaxed schedule for Mustang girls. They had the chance to have some crafts and bonding time with their fellow campers while enjoying an array of music. Then in the afternoon they headed to the barn for our native American theme day. The girls learned native American symbols and had the chance to paint some of our horses and then tell their story of why they chose those specific symbols. Each girl then had the chance to try bareback riding. This is where you sit directly on the horses back without a saddle or a pad. Most girls were nervous to start, but loved it once they got going. You can actually feel the horses muscles move as you steer them and ask them to complete tasks. It didn’t take long for the girls to fall in love with bareback riding!
Then today starts a two day event where every camper at Frost Valley participates in culture sharing, games, competitions and activities. This event is called Olympix! The girls have all been broken into different “countries” which are teams that represent countries from all over the world. They spent today learning the culture and history of their country in addition to practicing chants and songs to help their country win the spirit award. Each girl now has a t-shirt with their countries crest, and they are hyped for opening ceremonies in just a little while. Tomorrow will be filled with a variety of games and challenges that the teams must complete together. Our Mustang counselors are broken up into teams with the girls so we are sure they are diligent with sunscreen and water while having an amazing time. Olympix is a staff favorite as it mixes the girls with other villages and challenges them to have fun and try new things! We will be sure to upload photos to SmugMug as soon as we can so you can enjoy seeing your camper compete for their team!
