Sun and Overnights

Today was a busy day for the Hird! Pac and Windsong both left for their 2 night overnights. Windsong are spending their first night at Merrill Pavilion which has a panoramic view of the Catskills (they’ll see one of the most spectacular sun rises tomorrow morning) and Pac are staying at Pine Grove which is nestled into the trees next to the Neversink river. Tomorrow night they’ll switch places and Thursday they’ll make their way back to camp.

While our overnights went out the other villages in the Hird were doing a mix of different activities, some of them active, some of them geared towards getting to know campers in other villages.

Hemlock played Geronimo with Al (Find a seat!)

Sacky and Tacoma did some activities to get to know each other (Speed Friending and The Friendship Game)

Tacoma and Lenape played Beat the Clock Charades (Charades with a time limit between the teams).

Tomorrow Tacoma and Lenape join the overnights, stay tuned for photos of the overnight sites!

Morgan Theze

Born in New York but raised in Ireland, Morgan has spent every summer he can remember flying back to the US to attend summer camps. Over the years that Morgan worked at a well-regarded private camp in Maine, he took on many roles including Cabin Counselor, Head of Rocks and Ropes, Program Director, and Operations Director. Morgan began working at Frost Valley as a program instructor in 2014, leading activities for our schools and weekend programs, before becoming our Director of Camp Henry Hird. Campers at Camp Henry Hird range in age from 13 to 16. Morgan loves working with this age group as he finds that this is the time of their life where they form into unique individuals and discover the values that they will hold with them for the rest of their lives.
