4th of July at Camp.

Our 4th of July fireworks are on Sunday but we were still celebrating and having fun all day at camp! We are started our day just like every other day at Flagraising, this one have a little bit of an extra special meaning. During the morning everyone was in specialties. This is when campers get to choose what activity they do. I stopped in on our music specialty and they were all having a blast!

Pac and Windsong villages also left for their hike this morning. They will both be doing a 2 day overnight to a beautiful overlook called Merrill Pavillion that has a panoramic view of the Catskills. There will be photos in the blog of both groups tomorrow evening and photos for the overnight will go on SmugMug on Thursday!

Even our dessert at dinner was themed!

At the end of dinner we had a very exciting presentation. This summer is the start of Frost Valley TV (FVTV), a camper and staff run media project looking to give an inside view of what life is like at Frost Valley during the summer. We showcased our first video to enthusiastic applause. Everyone is looking forward to getting involved with FVTV over the course of the summer.

Lastly I joined Lenape for evening program as we were all invited by Adventure Village to join them in one of their traditional games called Wells Fargo. It’s a crazy game that involves a lot of face paint, bandanas, and a ton of running. There were smiles all around. We played 3 rounds where both groups were mixed on the teams and one final round where we were in our villages. Adventure Village proved their experience and won the final round but the Hird is very excited to challenge them again later this summer!

Morgan Theze

Born in New York but raised in Ireland, Morgan has spent every summer he can remember flying back to the US to attend summer camps. Over the years that Morgan worked at a well-regarded private camp in Maine, he took on many roles including Cabin Counselor, Head of Rocks and Ropes, Program Director, and Operations Director. Morgan began working at Frost Valley as a program instructor in 2014, leading activities for our schools and weekend programs, before becoming our Director of Camp Henry Hird. Campers at Camp Henry Hird range in age from 13 to 16. Morgan loves working with this age group as he finds that this is the time of their life where they form into unique individuals and discover the values that they will hold with them for the rest of their lives.
