Frost Valley YMCA Announces New Summer Day Camps in 2020

Frost Valley has added five new Summer Day Camps for 2020 for your curious, creative, and awesome campers. Our new camps include gardening, acting and theatre, adventure, and special  leadership development camps for your tweens and teens. Check out what we have to offer:

Little Planters – Session 3A (available for children entering 1st to 2nd grade)

Does your camper have a green thumb or a keen interest in gardening?  Campers who attend Little Planters will learn all about where our food comes from by spending quality time in our Main Camp Garden. They will also take a trip to our Educational Farm, and be given the opportunity to start a little garden of their own.

Center Stage – Session 3B (available for children entering 1st to 2nd grade)

Whether your camper has an interest in acting, learning the ins and outs of set design, or costume designing, Center Stage will give them the chance to explore their creativity. Campers will choose a short play, set the stage, design the costumes, and perform live for other campers!

Wilderness Adventure – Session 3B (available for children entering 3rd, 4th, and  5th grade)

If your child is a natural adventurer who loves to explore and try new things, then Wilderness Adventure is perfect for them! Campers will be able to test their courage on Frost Valley’s climbing wall, work on team work at our low ropes course, and learn how to cook over an open fire. They will also explore the beauty of nature while taking long hikes on Frost Valley’s many trails and learn basic outdoor living skills.

While not entirely new, Frost Valley has revamped our existing Tween and Teen camps to include an emphasis on leadership and community service for Summer 2020.

Tween Leadership – Sessions 1, 2, 3 & 4 (available for campers entering 6th and 7th grade)

Our two-week Tween Leadership program is specially designed for all campers entering 6th and 7th grade in September 2020. Campers will get the opportunity to participate in regular camp activities in addition to leadership development activities including participating in community service projects around Frost Valley as well as the local community. These young leaders will develop social and emotional skills, work on different ways to express themselves, and so much more! Campers will go on one field trip and take part in one overnight.

Teen Leadership – Sessions 1, 2, 3 & 4 (available for campers entering 8th – 9th grade)

Our two-week Teen Leadership program is specially designed for campers entering 8th – 9th grade in September 2020. Teens in this leadership program will spend time making friends, in addition to  learning about themselves through programs that promote diversity, inclusion, stewardship, and community. Campers will participate in teambuilding activities and practice mindfulness, while enjoying all of Frost Valley’s exciting camp activities. Campers will go on two field trips, one of which will include a fun activity that also gives back to the local community, and take part in one overnight.
