Mustang – Bareback day and Theme Day
Mustang is on a roll here! We had an amazing day yesterday. We played water games around the slip n’ slide with Susky (girls 9-11) and Mini MAC (Mainstreaming at Camp for the campers with disabilities). They had a great time with the other villages and were so excited to use the slip n’ slide. Then they had a special treat around the campfire. They got banana boats! They took bananas and roasted them in the fire with marshmallows and chocolate so that it was a nice warm sweet treat after it cooked in the fire.
Then they went to the barn for bareback day. They rode in a lesson just like any other day, except, yesterday, they rode without saddles! They were able to see and feel how the wild cowboys and cowgirls rode before the saddle was invented. They were able to feel the horse’s every move underneath them and could work on their balance. They were really enjoying the challenges that they were given while riding. It was much harder to keep their balance and they like feeling how the horses moved when they turned, walked around, and stopped.
Today was theme day! The theme was Harry Potter! All of the girls were split into the four houses of Hogwarts in Harry Potter. They spent the day doing Harry Potter themed activities including quiddich, trivia, cheers, and more. They went around with the rest of the camp and chanted in their houses and had a great day! They all were representing their houses with colors, wands, clothes and all. It was a great day and we are excited to get back on our horses tomorrow!
